Charlotte Hopmans is a filmmaker and photographer based in the Netherlands, specializing in development, script consultancy, and research for both documentary and fiction projects.
She earned her BA in Media & Culture from the University of Amsterdam (UvA) in 2023 and completed an exchange program at The New School in New York City. Following this, she worked as a Development and Research Intern for Jake Swantko, known for his work from the Oscar-Winning documentary Icarus (2017). After completing a production and development internship in the Scripted Department at 100% Film & Photography in Amsterdam, Charlotte graduated with her Master’s in Documentary and Fiction from UvA in January 2025, officially qualifying as dramaturg.
Charlotte likes to explore our humanity and our humanness in her visual storytelling, exploring themes such as society, culture, stigma, revolution, inspiration, love, catharsis, and transformation. To unearth the emotional core of something or someone. Her visual style leans towards gentle, magical realism, and nearly dreamlike images.
She enjoys collaborating on projects that promote diversity and is empowered by working with other women and like-minded individuals.
With a background in dramatic arts and acting training, she also occasionally acts. Next to this, she also occasionally writes.
